IMAC (International Miss Africa Committee) is a cultural organization under the auspices of the production company Blackstone Entertainment Co., Ltd, based in Douala, Cameroon. It promotes beauty and fundamental qualities. It will have the privilege of organizing an international beauty contest with Africa at its center, given the nature of the contest that is based on historical ties and ethnocultural similarities with regions that have been connected to the African continent. Contestants will come from five continents (Africa, North America, Latin America, Asia, and Oceania), chosen for their historical connections and ethnocultural similarities with Africa. Indeed, this vast geographical area has been connected to Africa and is home to people of African descent or those presenting similarities with Africa in terms of race, such as Melanesia (countries with black or melanized populations). It is in this context that we have named this beauty contest "Miss Africa United."
After two decades of reflection and critical observation of the behavior of the peoples of Africa and its diaspora, divided along racial, ethnic, tribal, regional, and national lines, we wondered how to break these barriers that prevent Africans, wherever they are, from being united like other peoples of the world. We asked ourselves how to break all these barriers. At a time when numerous sociopolitical movements and groups are revitalizing the ideology of Edward Wilmot Blyden, a son of freed slaves, we wondered how to unite all Africans worldwide and free them from the yoke of imperialism, interethnic, racial, linguistic, and other divisions. Indeed, according to the father of Pan-Africanism, Edward Wilmot Blyden, he originally advocated for the return of Afro-descendants to Africa to contribute to its development. Today, the movement has evolved beyond racial considerations to unite Africans, whether on the continent or in the diaspora. It brings together Africans from the continent and the diaspora, regardless of their racial and ethnic origins. This thirst for unity, carried by an increasingly aware youth, has motivated us to create a working group. Driven by this same desire for unity, we wish to support this movement through a cultural event that will contribute to raising awareness and uniting the peoples of Africa and its diaspora worldwide. The Miss Africa United contest will have its permanent seat in the city of Atlanta. Why Atlanta? Atlanta, the capital of the state of Georgia in the United States, has several historical and other assets that make it an ideal location for the first edition. A symbol of the struggle for civil rights for people of color, the birthplace of Reverend Martin Luther King, it is also the cradle of gospel music, which has African roots. Atlanta is also home to some of the biggest names in American hip-hop and has experienced the strongest social emergence of people of color. For all these reasons, we believe that this first edition will help to reconnect all African countries, including the motherland for Afro-descendants and Africans born on American soil. This is what leads us to name this first edition with the evocative term "RECONNECTION".
